Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and God-fearing individual with a heart to serve the church. You will play a key role in starting and building the English Ministry in Abundant Grace Presbyterian Church. This entails preaching the gospel during services, engaging in pastoral care of the congregation through God’s Word, working together with other pastoral staff and the Elders and Deacons Court in the best interests of the church.

Key responsibilities include:

Worship Ministry (Mandarin & English)

· Work and cooperate with other pastoral staff to ensure the smooth running of the weekly English service

· Preaching sermons

· Provide pastoral care for serving members of the English service

· Pastoring the congregation and building up disciples in Christ through sermons and worship songs

· Work with pastoral staff and church members on special worship services such as Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christmas, etc.

· Implement a long-term vision for the growth and integration of the English service together with our existing Chinese service, that is aligned with the overall church direction

Fellowship

· Youth fellowship

· Leading of the fellowship, including the planning and execution of programs

· Planning and execution of programs

· Build relationships with youths and teachers

· Mentor, care, and guide youths in their spiritual growth

· Develop a vision and strategy to disciple youths and build them towards spiritual maturity in Christ

· Assess the need for new fellowships to care for congregants in the English service, such as the young working adults

Sunday School

· Lead the English Education Ministry

· Provide training opportunities for teachers, equipping them to serve in the ministry

· Review and plan educational materials that are aligned to the Church’s goals and God’s Word

Outreach

· To engage where needed

Requirements:

· Well versed in English (written and spoken)

· Good communication in Chinese is a plus

· Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to work with members of all ages

· Bachelor’s degree in Theology/Divinity from recognised institutions

· Minimum 5 years’ experience serving in church ministry

About Company

Abundant Grace Presbyterian Church started off as Yio Chu Kang Preaching Station in 1947. The early years of our history were spent on church building projects before we were registered as a member of the Presbyterian Church in Singapore on 8 April 1962 and renamed as Abundant Grace Presbyterian Church. Through the labour of our founding pastors, preachers, elders, deacons, brothers and sisters, we are now a self-sufficient church with about 200 members.

Over the years, the government has developed and transformed the area around the church from a kampong into an urban residential town. Many new and young families have moved into the communities we serve. Along with the development of Jalan Kayu & Sengkang, there are also many foreign labourers living in the area. Our purpose as a church is to reach out to these families and foreign labourers residing in surrounding communities especially Jalan Kayu & Sengkang. This is an important part of our work and one that we are continuing to do.

We hope to be a beacon of light in the Sengkang area, building on the foundation of Jesus Christ, spreading His Word and bringing His love in serving the communities around us. This is our calling as we work towards becoming a healthy and mature church in our community.
